" Sahaj Paather Gappo " aka "Colours of Innocence" film is based on ‘Talnobomi’ short story. One of the best take on Bengali short story. Whenever i watch a book or story based film, i look for one thing only " Does it give same and justified vibe to original source? " If not then it is failed.

Based upon Bibhutibhusan's short story 'Talnobomi', Colours of innocence delineates optimism hope and love. The movie has a pretty similar premise like pather panchali as both concentrate on an impecunious rural family and their tormenting life story. Gopal and Chottu, two little kids are living agonizing life because their father has become paralyzed. The relationship between two brothers has a gradual but utterly subtle development throughout the movie. The innocence is diligently limned into this movie though there are some harrowing portrayals of class division. As I have mentioned earlier that the adaptation has been done splendidly so some moments of this movie give more depth to the main story. Two dream sequences of this movie show us the sad differences between reality and dream. It follows the traditional 'three-act' screenplay structure and every act is well written. The resolution part of this movie is utterly well executed. The writers with words and the cinematographer, production designer and directors with camera have perfectly captured the optimism and pain simultaneously. The cinematography is simply breathtaking. Specially some establishing shots and master shots are nothing but visually masterpiece. I read 'Talnobomi' when I was just 10 years old and that was a devastating experience but again after so many years, I have experienced the same thing but a bit more. When you really start feeling the repressed pain behind the smiles of two kids in this movie, the movie would become so depressing for you. Overall it shows us a wonderful story of patience. The actors Samiul Alam and Noor Ishlam are just stunning and seriously how realistic performances they have given to us !!! And also the editing is so smooth and obviously the musics are wonderfully made. The runtime of this film is 85minutes and when you start watching this movie you can not take your eyes off. The color work is another major thing which pushes the film to achieve the tag 'Masterpiece'.

In Colours of innocence i got the same vibe what i expected. So it is a success.

Director " Manas Mukul Pal " added some extra material and that worked perfectly even gave more depth in some point. And Cinematographer " Mrinmoy Mandal " did excellent job in capturing the villege & season.
Tbh i felt like this film is made by group of filmmaking students who had read the original story and they know what to show. May be some of technical things are kinda mediocre but they sync. This story is extremely personal to them. I really respect and appreciate this.

Overall this is a gem in Bengali film industry, which is highly overlooked. One of the best indian film from this decade.
